The land of gracious burning.

Posted in Uncategorized on November 18, 2008 by partyclub69

A lot has been going in the last few days around here. With the fires about 3 miles from my house and my girlfriend in town from SF this weekend I haven’t had much time to sit down and write anything since last Wednesday!

I wanna preface this by sending my heartfelt condolences to everyone who lost their home in the fires. I have a good friend who lives off San Antonio Street in Yorba Linda whose house burnt on Saturday evening; Mike if you read this, let me know if there is absolutely anything any of us can do for you. We’re all here for you. There are a few other friends that live in the area that i haven’t heard back from about the condition of their homes. Keepin’ my fingers crossed for them for sure. Mike V. and I actually helped Paul evacuate on Saturday afternoon as his neighborhood was getting pretty gnarly. The contents of his evacuation packing included a computer, about a weeks worth of clothes, a wooden hammer called “The Hillbilly Attitude Adjuster” and a handle of Rebel Yell whiskey (which actually belongs to me). Paul is truly a man’s man. But we’re all pretty stoked that his house ended up being just fine.

And while wildfires suck…goddamn are they awesome to take pictures of…

Fullerton got raped by smoke on Sunday morning…

So yeah…crazy shit.

That’s all for now. It’s bedtime.

The Fullerton Bikes/Mikey Aitken benefit jam went down yesterday and we couldn’t be happier with how it went! I was blown away with how many people were there and how many people were willing to donate to help out Mikey! Thanks a lot guys!

Big thanks to Odyssey, Fit, S&M, Primo, Lotek and Animal for donating product for the contest prizes and raffle! You guys rule!

Special thanks go out to Robbie Morales, Joe Vee, Dillon Ambrose and their lovely ladies for judging! RJ, Little Veesh, IZ, Milton, George, Matt Stroud, Jason Weber, Barry Southby and whoever else helped out (sorry I can’t remember everyone…there’s too many of you guys) for helping with setup and tear down! Dan for letting us use his wicked awesome trailer/ramp setup! The 818 crew for showing us all how to ride bikes! And lastly Paul, Donny and Justin for helping me with registration/raffle/beverages and for not allowing me to run around like a chicken with my head cut off alone! Casey Casper and his dad, Bob Casper, for allowing us to borrow the ramps and for all the help loading and transporting them!

Lastly I think Mike Franze, Stephen Campbell and especially Richard Krumm deserve some special recognition for everything they did for the jam! Without your hard work guys, none of this would have happened. Thanks guys.

Here’s some pictures I took while not running around like a kid with ADHD on cocaine:

A few of us camped out on Saturday night to keep an eye on the ramps. Needless to say many beers were consumed and I think everyone had a great time. Thanks to RJ, Tone, Veesh and Davey for hanging out all night!

Ditch in a ditch.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on November 11, 2008 by partyclub69

JSpace, Frank, Joey and Loofa were out here this past weekend on the 6-9 trip. Lots of good times were had, unfortunately I didn’t get to spend as much time as I would have liked to riding and hanging out since we had a lot of work left for the contest. But we had a pretty good Norwalk skatepark session in which Joe V tore his back up and I managed to kick my axle multiple times with my shin and re-bruise both of my heels. After the park we wend to the ditch and watched Joey be a sandbagger and Joe try to stall the sky…then crack his pedal and become a graffiti artist. Never a bad time with Ditch involved.

Here’s some photo evidence of the one day I did get to ride with ‘em.

Jam out with your shellfish out.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , on November 3, 2008 by partyclub69

Veesh and company are throwing a jam 11/9 (that’s NEXT WEEKEND) to benefit Mike Aitken and his family. There are a few fliers floating around Myspace thanks to Codey, who unfortunately had a shitty Halloween and is now sporting a detachable jaw. We’ve been sessioning the ramps we built for the contest the last couple nights and I think everyone has been pretty psyched on ‘em. There’s gonna be some good stuff going down on the 9th.

Along with the jam there will be a raffle with some merch from Animal, Fit, S&M, Volume/Demolition, Odyssey and a few others who I forget at the moment. Tickets will be $5 each and proceeds will be going to Mikey’s family to help out with his medical bills and anything else to make his life easier!

As far as the actual jam goes, it will be jam format, judged by local riders/industry people/people who matter in your life/etc. and there will be merch for the winner of each catagory. There will also be a bunnyhop contest (of course!) and the ever popular footdown. Entrance to the jam costs $5 and, again, proceeds go the Aitken family.

Here’s a few photos I snapped from the last few nights:

The Jam starts at 3pm, with registration starting an hour before (that means be there at 2pm if you wanna ride). You must park on Commonwealth Ave., as the shop’s parking lot will be full of delicious rampage. Bring food, beer, whatever. Myself and someone else (any takers???) will be working registration and working on getting drunk before the sun goes down so come by and say hello. Say something nice and you might get a beer. Probably not. But I’m open to trades (other types of beer, naked pictures of vice presidential candidates, ironic t shirts in size small or any sort of delightful vegetarian snack would be your best bet).

Until next time
